OUR PHILOSOPHY

Honesty, professionalism, and value are at the core of our beliefs, and our approach to
every relationship starts with really listening to the wants and needs of our clients. We
take pride in our work, with word-of-mouth referrals and repeat customers making up
the majority of our business.

Why we use Benjamin Moore Paints

Not all paint is created equal. Quality paint provides a better finish, lasts longer, and saves you money.
Paint ingredients can be sorted into four categories: Pigments, Resins, Solvents, and Additives.
Pigments are finely ground particles that give paint its opacity and ability to hide the underlying surface. The predominant and most expensive pigment in paint is titanium dioxide, a very pure white powder with exceptional hiding qualities. High-quality paint contains a high percentage of this pigment. Lower quality paints use clay, silica, and talc. They’re not as white and pure, and they’re poorer hiding capabilities. This means it will take more coats of a lower quality paint to achieve the same results as a higher quality paint, especially if a lighter colour is being applied over a darker one.

Resins are the ingredients that hold the pigments and colorants in place after the paint dries. The resins in the high-quality paint are smaller and better able to cling to each other and penetrate the surface they're applied to. This means a stronger, longer-lasting paint film, saving you the cost of re-painting in a few years.

Solvents are the liquids that transport the above ingredients from the brush/roller and onto the wall. In latex paint the main solvent is water; in oil-based paint it’s primarily mineral spirits. These evaporate as the paint dries. High-quality paints will have more combined solids (pigments and resins) and less water than cheap paints. A higher percentage of solids means a thicker paint film, better hiding and greater durability.

Additives are specific to the job required and can include mildew resistance, paints that are certified asthma and allergy friendly, and temperature stability. One of the most important additive to higher quality paint are thickeners. They create and easier to use product that has better spreadability, allowing for quicker application. Painters can do a better job in less time, thus keeping labour costs down.
